I was recently looking at my fav frigate, my trusty old Kestrel, and I was marveling that this ship is still alive. I have scored 53 kills with it which is nothing special by itself but then it struck me: This SPECIFIC ship has downed 53 ships and it is still flying. I have not killed 53 ships in various kessies, but with this specific one. Hmm...
I can see my kill mails, but this information needs a lot of filtering and work to break it downto ship by ship. Now WHAT IF we had a separate tab next to the ship's attributes, insurance, etc, named history? This could track kills and other stuff we can come up.(You repackage it though and it is gone as is insurance. Lets think of it as refurbishing/reconstruction.)
So imagine that the history tab could look something simple like:
Day of creation: Manufacturer:
Kills
Titans:0 Capitals:0 BSs:1 BCS:2 .... SHUTLES:1235 PODS:12
Ore mined (for.. you know, miners)
Veld: 876264 Scordite: 3453 .....
Salvaged(maybe): .....
Cargo hauled(for haulers): .......
Star systems visited (unique ones):
X
etc
Suddenly a ship becomes more than a tool but something unique and makes more reason to name it now, instead of just being X's ship on the way to the slaughterhouse. Now if this history could als o be public, the name and history of ship suddenly ties to something tangible to others as well as to its owner. Few ships have managed to acquire fame by name and personally I can only come up with the Veldnaught.
Imagine now selling (via contract) a frigate with a titan kill? Or a Battleship which has survived for years and has killed hundreds? Or a ship that has visited 5000 star systems? Such ships suddenly become unique and their history adds considerable value to their price. Collectible? Why not. New market? Very possible.
Imagine now if the Veldnaught was up for sale (like if). How much of the price would be due to its name and fame?
Of course the skill of the owner is what made the ship famous, but its fame will sort of rub off to the new owner. People would say "Look its the Veldnaught! Is that the guy who bought it?" Or "Look its the Veldnaught! Run!!!"(like if)
All these would just be counters so no lag. At least no more lag than whatever your combat log generates by just being there. At least I think no lag. In fact if there will be lag involved, can it. So lets assume no lag.
I do not know, may be it is the alcohol that has reactivated a dormant part of my brain and I am being creative, or I am just that ****ed and I am simply brain farting here. What daya think?

That's the spirit! And that's because a new market would be created for such epic epeens.

I think what's sad is that I can actually see people doing that.
Well, if there is proof(titan kill), I can assure you that several people would pay a premium to buy such a ship. And where there is a demand, there is a market. Nothing wrong or right with it. Just business.

Originally by: Astro Glyde Funny, this same idea occurred to me the other day. I found an old Cynabal I hadn't used in years, tucked away in Syndicate that I used to wreak havoc in, made me wonder if there was a list somehow. A series of 'notches' like the old pilots used to use would be really cool. :)
Funny that, I was actually thinking of the notches myself while writing this. :)

"Wrong" wouldn't be the right word. Stupid is more the right word.
Ok, stupid or clever works as well. All is business. In any case, I am mostly interested in making ships more personal to the pilot. If people decide to make money out of it, good for them.

As I said if this could have the slightest impact on lag, can it. File it and reconsider it when Eve 128 comes along.....

I also honestly believe lag would be virtually non existent but really only CCP can comment on the db load generated by something like this.
As many have said and I totally agree, nice to have, would add lots of depth but not in exchange of extra lag.

Just a bump to see if we can get more opinions on this.
